Updates and Reminders
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday! Here are some upcoming events, dates, and our much needed donations. Have a wonderful weekend!
Literacy
- Students will be beginning to write their own personal narratives about what the sun sees. Students will get ideas from texts, photographs, and videos to generate ideas and then write a poem using details and proper conventions.
- Students continue to learn about adjectives and prepositions. They will explore how adding these to their writing will make their writing more detailed.
- During skills block this week, we will be learning about ending blends and the “ou” sound. The “ou” sound, as in cloud, is only used in the middle of a syllable, while the “ow” sound as in cow, is used at the end of syllable or word.
- In math, students will be working on place value. They will use their knowledge of tens and ones to count and add.
- Help your child at home by giving them a 2 digit number and having them tell you what is one more, one less, ten more or ten less.J
- Students will be looking closely at maps this week. They will study the compass rose and see how it’s used on a map.
- Next week, we will start a Science topic about Motion!
